when you put your budgie to bed to you give them a night light or give them darkness?Which is better for the bird, would they rather a night light or darkness?I choose darkness as i feel that’s what the bird probably want’s but what do you think is actually best for him,or is either ok?

Darkness. It helps them fall asleep. I used to have a budgie too.
Darkness. I put a towel over the front of his cage so it seems like a little protection for him & it makes sure to keep out any light. Along with some soft music playing in the background so everything just doesn’t go silent on him.
I think it all depends on the bird. Most budgies are fine at night in full darkness and get a better night’s sleep. Sometimes budgies may get night frights in total darkness and prefer having a nightlight on so they can feel safe and secure which will help them get to sleep. If your budgie has a night fright, it will usually flutter in its cage and may squawk. Always turn on a light and talk to your budgie after a night fright to reassure them everything will be okay. Check over your budgie and make sure it hasn’t injured itself.
Note that in some female budgies, being exposed to extra light can increase the chances of egg laying. In this case, you would need the budgie to be in total darkness.
