How old are you? Because that makes a difference on what kind of things should be in your room. I’ll try to help anyway.
What color are your walls? Assuming they are white or baby blue here’s an idea to make your room less boring. If your walls are white use baby blue paint, but if they are baby blue use white paint or darker blue paint. Paint stripes on to your wall or polka dots, it will make the walls more interesting at least.
Go buy some fabric that you like, you don’t even need to know how to sew. Buy some fleece material with a print you like, cut it in to a blanket to hang over your chair or stay on the foot of your bed. Then buy some other fabric you like (with a print) and turn it in to a table cloth for your book shelf or other shelf.
Make a tackboard. Have your parents pick up insulfoam and some inexpensive fabric in designs/colors you like. Cut the foam to the size you want (e.g. 4 pieces 12″x12″ each), put the fabric over it (pull tight and staple to the back), and hang on the wall. Buy some decorative pushpins, add your photos, postcards, etc. and you’ve got a personalized room decor item. You can truly personalize it by ironing on your name or initials (you can find iron-on letters at your local craft store).
