This company makes the chandelier, so they should also be able to supply the 1″ acrylic gummies as well.
You are on your own for the lamp. I can tell you that it is a satin nickel desk lamp.
Unless you’re able to locate a glass “gummy bear” already pre-drilled with the top and bottom holes it will be very difficult to duplicate the lamp exactly. You can, however make a lamp that captures the spirit of the gummy bear lamp using a 2-liter clear plastic coke bottle c/w it’s lid.
Buy a good-sized plain white lamp shade that you will later decorate with glass or plastic gummy bears (real ones will lose their color and go runny from the heat of the light bulb). Get the kind of lampshade that has 3 stiff wires in the top with pencil-size hole in the middle. Measure the distance from the hole to the bottom of the lamp shade. This is the size of “harp” you need to buy.
Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy:
A correct-size harp
A 2″ “throat”
Two locking nuts to fit the throat
A decorative pendant that will screw onto the harp to hold the lamp shade in place.
A standard lamp socket with a push-through switch
Ten feet of while lamp cord
One “squeeze on” male plug. (Get the store clerk to show you how it works)
A standard flourescent-type light bulb
Enough glass beads — or other interesting little items that will go through the neck of the bottle — enough to fill the bottle.
Use whatever tools you have to make a hole in the center of the bottle cap just large enough to fit the throat. Use the lock nuts to instal the throat firmly in the cap with about 1/2″ of thread exposed on the topside of the cap.
Make another hole in the side of the bottle 2″ above the bottom just big enough for the wire. Feed the wire into the hole and out through the top of the bottle and through the lid leaving about 5″ of loose wire sticking out of the throat. Pour 1 1/2″ of sand into the bottle to give it some weight to keep from tipping over. Add 1/2 cup of water to keep the sand in place. Add the coloured glass beads etc. to fill the bottle. Screw the lid on tight.
Take off the bottom of the light socket (squeeze, twist and pull). Loosen the little screw on the side.
Put the harp on the throat, then screw the light socket bottom firmly onto the throat. Tighten the little locking screw.
Bare 3/4″ of insulation from the ends of the two wires sticking out of the throat. Twist the fine wires so they’re not all loose.. Wrap one wire around each of the screws on the light socket. Wrap them in the same direction that the screw will turn when you tighten it. Be sure none of the fine little wires are sticking out. Do this part very neatly to avoid electrical problems. Slide the light socket back into the sleeve making sure the plastic or cardboard insulator is in place. Snap the light socket back into its base on the bottle.
Install the male plug on the other end of the wire following the instructions on the package.
Now you’re ready to decorate your creation! Glue your plastic gummy bears onto the lamp shade in a pattern that pleases you. You may choose to also glue a few onto the lamp base you have made.
Mount the lamp shade onto the harp of your lamp and secure it with the decorative pendant. Screw in the light “bulb” and plug in the lamp.
Enjoy!
Brag!
I wasnt able to find the big gummy bear piece but if you go to this website http://www.nextag.com/toy-gummy-bear/search-html they have gummy bear beads, toys and the kit to make gummy bears(not to eat) so get a lamp with a cloth cylinder shade and glue gummy bears all over the lamp shade and into a cool design on the pole of the lamp. that lamp was really cute
